Mitchell refers to “Secret Miracle” on p. 16 because in the “Bhagavad GIta,” Michell talks about a moment when time stops and everything is still. In the Gita, Mitchell speaks about the fight between Arjuna and Krishna, and suddenly everything stops but Arjuna and Krishna. In the Secret Miracle says, “The physical universe stood still…the had halted as in a painted picture” (148-149). Like in the Gita, the world had stopped before a fight for Hladik as well. In both instances, the subjects had been involved in fighting and suddenly the world ceased and they were the only ones allowed to move. Mitchell means that, for both parties, time ceased at an important time in their lives. Reality can hit us hard that sometimes we need a moment to really stop and realize what is happening to us.
